Getting Ready for a House Wash: A Quick Homeowner Checklist
A house wash goes smoother with ten minutes of prep. Here's a simple checklist of what to move, close, and point out before the crew arrives.

A house washgoes faster, safer, and cleaner when the home is ready for the crew. None of this is complicated — most of it takes ten minutes the morning of — but a little prep protects your belongings and lets the work go smoothly. Here's a simple checklist.
The morning of — a 10-minute walk-around
- Close all windows and doors firmly, and check that storm windows and any loose seals are shut.
- Move what you canaway from the walls: patio furniture, grills, potted plants, door mats, hoses, kids' toys, and trash bins.
- Pull vehicles outof the driveway and away from the areas being cleaned so there's no overspray on the car.
- Bring in or secure delicate items — wind chimes, flags, decor, and anything fragile near the work area.
- Keep pets indoors and away from doors during the wash.
A few things worth pointing out to the crew
- Exterior outlets, light fixtures, or any electrical you know about
- Windows or spots with known leaks or damaged seals
- Prized plants or garden beds you want extra care around
- Security cameras or doorbells so they can be worked around
Good pros already take steps to protect landscaping and rinse surrounding plants — but a quick heads-up about anything special never hurts.
Do you need to be home?
Usually not, as long as the crew has water access and a clear path around the house, and you've talked through any access or problem areas ahead of time. Many homeowners prep in the morning and go about their day. If you'd rather be there to point things out, that's completely fine too.
What to expect during and after
Surfaces will be wet, so it's best to stay off freshly washed walkways and steps until they dry. When it's done, walk the exterior with fresh eyes — the difference on siding, soffits, and eaves is usually the part people notice most. If you're ready to get on the schedule, send a few photos through the quote path and we'll take it from there.
